How much do I need to travel around Australia/New Zealand for 3 months?

Q. We are travelling round Aus/NZ. Fly to Sydney, then 2 weeks in Auckland, a week in Rotorua, 12 days in Wellington, 10 days in Christchurch, 2 weeks in Sydney, 2 weeks in Melbourne, 2 weeks in Hobart, and then home.

Already booked Sydney to home flights and 2 weeks in Sydney accom, how much do you reckon we should take out altogether for the trip approx.?

Just to add we plan on staying in hostels and buying and cooking most of our food in supermarkets.

How much you reckon for the 3 months all in all, with that plan in mind? Ballpark figure of course.

A. We're planning a RTW trip ourselves. We'll spend 3 weeks in AU and 3 weeks in NZ.
After spending some time reading up on it in books and the internet...

Australia
We're going with a 75USD per day budget for food and misc items (such as gifts, etc). We'll get a Central Coaster Pass from Greyhound for 183AUD per pax.

Obviously a lot depends on how luxuriously you want to travel. There's a big difference between backpacking thru AU nad NZ staying hostels, or renting a car and staying in 4-5 star hotels.
Also, you probably want to allocate an extra $500 per adult for any sightseeing and activities.
