What is a quick homemade craft my little brother and sister can make my mom for Christmas?

Q. He's 4, she's 5, I'm 14.
I'm babysitting them right now, and we decided to make another gift for mom. What's a fun, quick, easy homemade present we can make? I tried a macoroni necklace but we don't have enough different types of pasta.

A. I know this is a little late, but there's always next year!

One of my favorite homemade gifts my daughter and I made together when she was little. We took a paper plate and covered it with Christmas wrapping paper. Then we traced her hand on a thin piece of cardboard. We used the cardboard hand as a template and cut out about ten more little hands in red and green construction paper.

We glued the construction paper hands around the edge of the paper plate, glue on little poms poms here and there for decoration and then used a looped pipe cleaner as a hanger. It looks like a festive Christmas wreath!

She's now a tween and rolls her eyes when I hang it every year. But as the Mom, I love it :)

A. I'm a pre school Teacher so this one will be fun to answer...I have lots of ideas, so I'll put one out there for you... Do you have paint? and construction paper? If not, use anything you can trace with, " pencil, pen, crayon, marker..but you'll need some kind of paper paper. Using washable paint, lightly paint or place child's foot in it so you can print it on the paper and allow time to dry. .. also do the same thing with each child's hands."Both hands" allow to dry.. if you have no paint trace 1 foot of each child, and do the same with both of their hands and let them color them or paint them... when dry "If painting" cut out and use the hands for wings of an angel... the foot "HEAL" on top, for the angels head... toes pointing down for the bottom of the angels gown. Glue wings in the middle, using the heal so the toes are pointing out. Now draw the eyes, nose and mouth... makes a GREAT tree ornament.Just string at the top and put on the tree. If you would like more ideas...let me know.. Merry Christmas! :-)
Don't forget to put your brother and sisters names and ages on the backs of the angels, and you can add glitter or any other decoration.. Have fun with it... Make one from your hands and foot also... I'll be fun for all of you.

Does the recipient have a legal claim over a gift?
Q. We recently got burglarized and now that insurance payed up, my mother is trying to take some of my cash and share it with my siblings in order to reduce whining. A small portion of the net value which I presume is owed to me comes from gifts my mom bought me when I was a small child (19 now) such as video games. Does the value of those gifts go to me or my mother? And if it is owed to me and my mother doesn't give it up can I take her to court?

I live in Canada, if that does anything.

A. The gifts were given to you so they are now your personal property. The value goes to you.
