Q. I have a friend who is an Indonesian that would be arriving sometime in June and she is planning to bring a laptop computer as a gift. Will she be required to pay a certain amount when entering NAIA or would it be free for foreigners? She will be bringing the laptop intact because she plans to give it with the box. She will only bring one said item. Thank you.
A. No, because it's a personal belonging. But preferable without the box or wrapper around to be sure if she wants to camouflage that it belongs to her and it's her personal. In the Philippines anything is possible for the sake of plunder as you know so to avoid conflicts bring the computer along in a computer bag and carry it on your shoulder like I did with mine.
Is there an online gift store that sends gifts to the US from Filipino clients?
Q. I've seen so many but they cater to clients in the US sending gifts to the Philippines
A. If you want to send Philippine food products to the US, you can visit www.pinoydelikasi.com.
There is a website that exports Philippine handicrafts - at the moment I can't remember the URL. When I do, I will edit this response.
Have a nice day !

What can I bring into the Philippines and what will the cost be?
Q. I was planning on bringing the girl I am going to see a few gifts for her and her family, I was going to bring her a laptop and ipod and a camera, and her sisters wanted some necklaces and her brother and dad a hat, would they charge me an import tax on them even if they are not gift wrapped? And if so how much? Thanks in advance!
A. dont mention you are leaving anything there in the philippines. (in other words, you are taking them back home again). dont declare anything on the customs form. take the stuff out of the box before your trip. just hand the guy at customs your form and keep walking and he wont care.
