Is it acceptable to sell wedding gifts received over ten years ago?

Q. I have recently found the need to consider selling personal items, including wedding gifts (china, crystal, silverware, etc.), given to my husband and I over ten years ago. Our reasons are financial in nature and we have not used the items in many years if at all. The thought occured to me when I was shopping for a wedding gift recently and realized the monetary value of some items I have. I normally wouldn't have considered it further but we really could use the money right now.

A. sure if you do not need the items by all means sell them

How do you select when buying a gift in crystal ? Is one with lots of "cuts" more superior ?
Q. Am trying to buy something in crystals and would like some info on them. Thanks in advance

A. What should I look out for when buying a crystal item?

Always look out for clarity and bubbles. Check with the shop whether the item is full lead crystal or not. This is because full lead crystal is much more expensive than crystal items with lesser lead content. Also, check that the edges of the crystal are not chipped, and check for scratches on the item's surfaces.

Physically, how can you tell the differences between glass and crystal?

Crystal is generally heavier in weight than glass, and it is brighter and clearer in appearance. Crystals are normally sold with cut patterns. This is to bring out the index of refraction, as the cut patterns has the ability to disperse light into the colour of the components of the visible spectrum with almost diamond like brilliance.

How can i distinguish real Crystal and fake?
Q. I need to buy a gift, Set of 12 Crystal wine glasses.

A. Look to see the lead content and the maker. Once you see and use fine crystal it isn't hard to tell from cheap glass. I have both and the crystal is finer, heavier and clearer. The ring tone doesn't really prove anything. The feel is a much better indicator.
