How do I know if claiming Bankruptcy is right for me?

Q. This holiday season I am sinking fast from bills, rising gas costs and unreliable vehicle costs. I have been going after my Ex for child support for the last year but have received nothing so far. I can barely buy food for my kids at this point, let alone gifts for x-mas. My friends keep telling me that if I claim bankruptcy , it will give me a clean slate to start from. Any help is appreciated, if there is an answer to my financial troubles.

A. Do NOT file bankruptcy. This will only hurt you down the road anytime you try to get credit. You need to sit down and make a plan. Heres what to do:

Sit down with all your bills and pay check and do a budget. For the next few weeks start carrying a piece of paper with you and track all your expenses. Don't cheat write everything down even if it's only a dollar item still track it.

Now take all your bills and figure out how much a month they are with paying the miniums. Contact all the creditors and let them know your wanting to pay them back but can't afford much and tell them what you can afford. make sure whatever amount you tell them you can actaully afford to pay though. They will work with you even if it's just $20 a month you pay.

Now, figure out where you can cut some expenses. Take a lunch to work, make coffee at home and take with you, take drinks to work, cut your home or cell phone plan down, get rid of cable, use coupons to buy food, eat lots of pasta, soups and vegatables etc.. There are tons of ways to cut your monthly cost you just have to do it.

Now once you'v figured out how much you have each month pay the minium to all your bills and any extra money pay to the highest accuring debt. Do not make any payments late though.

If your still having troubles getting by then you might want to get another job, or a new job with better pay. Or maybe you can pick up more hours where you work. Or do you have a extra room you can rent out each month? Try roommates.com or craigslist to find a roommate.

Learn to live frugal. Check into goverment help as you probably qualify for food stamps and day care help. Also, try charities to help you with the x-mas gifts or your local church. Maybe shop at goodwill for xmas gifts if you can't get any help.

Last thing you might want to consider is making a major change so you can change you life. This meaning go to college or learn to better yourslef to get a better job. Keep your head up you can do it. best of luck

How long do homemade cookies last?
Q. I am making cookies to give out as gifts in x-mas tins with pretty tissue paper. I am making the hershey kiss cookies, m&m cookies and sugar cookies with icing on them. Each cookies is 4 batches each so we are talking a total of 144 cookies so I wanted to start today with a batch or two. Will they be ok to give out on x-mas day? (2 days from now)????
CAN I PUT THEM IN THE TINS NOW WITH A SLICE OF BREAD?

A. Since store-bought cookies are filled w/preservatives (to lengthen their lifespan) and homemade cookies shelf life is 2-3 days, you should be fine w/giving them out today or tomorrow.

What should I get my guy for Christmas?
