I'm planning on buying a laptop in US for my brothers birthday but am worried about customs and/or shipping?

Q. What is the cheapest way for me to purchase the laptop? I know Laptops are duty free but the whole 17.5% VAT rate is confusing. Is it best to bring it back in the box and pay the VAT, send via airmail as a gift (and how to I prove its a gift), or risk getting fined by having the opened product in my bag (I don't really wanna break the law anyway)

A. It would help if I knew where you lived because all countries have their own duties and procedures. I once bought a computer monitor in Malaysia and brought it back to Philippines where I live. I brought it back in the unopened box and declared it here in Philippines. I told the guy what it cost and showed him the invoice. Even though it is subject to duty I gave him a sob story and he didn't charge me anything.

How long will this mail arrive to its destination? (Easy 10 points!!)?
Q. Okay, so im sending a gift for my
friend on her birthday. So i mailed her
a small gift.

How long approximately will it take for
that to arrive?.

Starts from : California,USA

Arrives at: Selangor,Malaysia

A. 8 or 9 days.

No gifts for birthday for many years?
Q. I turned sixteen few months ago, my parents did not even give me a present.they did not give anything for any of my birthday actually.is it mean of them?and they are not in any financial crisis or whatever.the other day i asked for a present and my parents said they were from a poor place in malaysia before they came here,so they did not celebrate their birthday at all.and thus they think i do not need a present.wtf!!!they are using the way THEY are raised to raise me.SO MANY of my friends and strangers on youtube keep babbling about their presents yet i have none!!we are asian so we dont celebrate christmas even though we are in the usa so i have no christmas presents as well!!how should i ask for a present without bring rejected?????also i am not spoilt i dont even dare to ask for anything above 60 dollars

A. Do your parents give gifts for any holidays? Perhaps it is not in their culture to give things. Having said that, do you give gifts to them for any reason?

You need to accept their way of life, as it seems you cannot change them. However, if you give gifts to friends or other relatives for whatever reasons, you may receive from them. By the time you turn 18/adult age, you may then move out and establish a more American way of life for yourself.
