What kind of paperwork/fees are associated with shipping to Canada?

Q. I am selling an item and I am going to offer to ship it to Canada via USPS International Priority. They quote me that the price will be $29.10. I have never shipped to Canada before and I am in the US. Is there any fees, forms, or special procedures I have to go through in order to get this shipped?

A. YES! Beware. I am a Canadian who shops on eBAY frequently.

1) Customs/Duty - when you go to send the package you must specify whether its a gift or business item. Gifts under $200 pay no duty. They will give you a green sticker to fill out for this.

2) IF you use USPS you are fine but if you use UPS standard there will be brokerage fees due to the recipient before they may receive the package and they can be quite stiff ($50+) If they refuse to pay them you are liable!

Gift ideas that Canada may not have but US does?

A. Blue mtn dew and mint oreos.

Is there any good company/website which deliveres gift baskets in Canada?
Q. I am currently in Europe and need to ship someone in Canada,BC a gift basket. Something original like with beer or candy he likes. Any suggestion for a good website?

A. http://www.ediblearrangements.ca/

If that's not what you want then you may have to source it locally in BC.
