What gift card could a teacher make use of the most?

Q. I want to give 3 of my teachers end of the year gifts and was thinking gift cards (around 10 bucks each) and a nice handwritten thank you note. Before I go out and get some gift cards I wanted to get an idea about what teachers would appreciate or make use of the most. Should I go with fun stuff like their favorite restraunt, coffee place or bath and body works, or should I go with Barnes and Noble or Staples kind of stuff? Thanks!

A. Get gift cards that remind you of the teacher. Get them something you know they would like and is fun.

Perhaps you could get them Visa gift cards - that way they can spend it in any store. I believe you can pick those up at stores like Wal Mart.

That's so sweet of you to do. Definitely include the handwritten note - I would cherish that if a student gave me one :-)

What are gift ideas to give for a wedding?
Q. My friend is getting married soon and I plan on gifting her for her bridal shower and wedding. I spent around 70 for her bridal gift. What should I give for the wedding. I am hoping to not spend as much for that gift. So that mean I want to avoid giving her cash or a gift card. Any ideas for affordable gifts?

A. I think a gift basket would be great. Pick a theme, like kitchen utensils, arrange them in a nice pitcher or a large bowl. Bathroom: soaps, washcloths, toothpaste, plunger, etc in a small trash can. Mostly, think of all the little things you forget about when you first move into your own place. Cleaning supplies, nails, spices! The personal touch will make it sweet, and the relief when they realize they don't have to run out to wal-mart for that little extra for dinner will make a great memory.

This is also an idea I came up with on my own, thinking it would be really cute if someone did it for my own wedding gift. If the couple's last name is also a brand name, buy a basket and fill it with those things. My soon to be name is Hines. So, we would get ketchup, mustard, nuts, Duncan Hines baked goods. Or you could do a similar thing with their first names.
Let us know how your gift turns out!!

What is the traditional gift for the doctor that delivered your child?
Q. I am considering a gift for the Doctor that delivered my child. What is the traditional gift for such an event?

I was thinking a 'silver dollar' or something similar.

Thanks.
Just some info:

The doctor is a Military Doctor, so he doesnt get 'phat paid' for doing a good job.

Also, he did such a wonderful job, I think he deserves a small gift...

A. I know that people will say you are paying enough either out of pocket or through insurance for the birth of your baby. However, I did feel compelled, when my daughter was born to get a small gift for the doctor. I just felt that all the nurses, assistants and the doctor in the practice were so amazing and made me feel so comfortable for my 9 months, I really wanted to give a more personal thank.you.

So about a month or so after my daughter was born I went and bought a few cookie tins with "Mrs. Fields" cookies in it. I stopped by the office one afternoon after lunch and dropped them off with a thank you note and picture. That way it was a thank you to the entire office for such excellence in care.

They were so appreciative. It was nice because it was something for the whole office to enjoy. And the money was nominal, I spent under $20. It made me feel good to give them that token of appreciation.
