How can I tell the bride and groom that I made a donation on their behalf? Wording help needed!?

Q. In place of traditional wedding gifts, the bride and groom requested donations to a charity of their choice. So I donated on the charity's website. I'd like to mention this in the card I give to the couple, since the charity does not seem to post information about individual donations. Without sounding tacky, how can I tell them that I made the donation? Can anyone suggest some wording for this?

A. "Congratulations on your marriage. I followed your excellent suggestion and made a donation to the Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis society in your name. Thank you for suggesting the idea. I hope that they put the money to good use curing that horrible disease."

Is it typical for bride and groom to exchange gifts the morning of their wedding?
Q. I guess I've heard of this before, but my husband and I didn't do this, and most people I know didnt. My cousin's getting married, and has spent WAY too much money on their wedding so far, and is now stressing over what to get for the bride and groom gifts....?! She said, "we're only spending just $100 on each other"... I think it's ridiculous, but is that just me? They had to take out a loan to pay for the thing to begin with...

A. I believe the tradition is to be done the night before.

My fiancee and I are planning on doing, however, rather than buying a gift for the sake of spending money, we're giving eachother something special. Whether it's a hand written note, engraved piece of jewellery, photograph or something else that's special to us. I know I'll be so nervous and excited the night before that I'd love to have something special with me.

Who is responsible for buying the bridesmaids dresses?
Q. Is the Bride & Groom supposed to buy the bridesmaids dresses or are the bridesmaids themselves responsible to buy them?
What if the bride picks out the dress?
Thanks!
BQ- Besides Davids Bridal. Where else can I look both online & in store for wedding dresses?
I'm in the US

A. It usually varies for different weddings, but most have the bridesmaids pay for their own dresses. However, some brides will pay for them. Sometimes, that's what the bride gifts the bridesmaids instead of jewelry or whatever. The bride always picks out what she wants the girls to wear, the girls just pay for them themselves.

BQ: nowadays, just about any bridal shop is online as well. You can check the local bridal shops in your area to see what they have or what they can order. There is also the choice of going out of state to bigger shops-like Klienfield/Say Yes to the Dress shop-and see what they have. I'm pretty sure they have a site too.
