Filing taxes on money as a gift?

Q. My husband has received a large sum of money ($175000) as a gift from the UK. The person in the UK has already had to pay taxes on that money. Do we also have to file taxes on this money? Both my husband and I think we do but one friend says we don't need to.
Thank you.

A. The recipient does not have to report a gift as income, as long as it really was a gift -- and not a bonus, or other payment associated with your employment.

What is the best way to post items to the UK from Kuala Lumpur?
Q. I'm traveling through Malaysia and wanted to send a few gifts back to the UK. I'm thinking of sending a couple of small packages 2.5-4kg post boxes or bags.

Any adivce on where to go or how much I should expect to pay will be appreciated!

A. U can post it from the post office in anywhere from Malaysia using REGISTERED post. REGISTERED post will be safe as the recipient will have to acknowledge receipt of the parcel in UK. It is also very cheap compared to Poslaju or courier services. REGISTERED post will take 7 working days to reach the destination in UK.
