What is a good gift for someone going into the Army?
Q. My best friend who's like a brother to me is leaving for basic in a few months. I was going to get him a journal before he left has a gift he could use whenever he had time. I recently found out that a different friend has already gotten him a journal. I don't want to get him the same thing, so I'm out of ideas. Please someone help me!

A. I've 3 recommendations :

Is it necessary to get a gift for a christening?
Q. I got invited to a friends christening for her kid. Would it look tacky to not bring a gift? I am broke right now but will bring a gift if it would be rude not too. If so what is a good gift in the $10-$15 range?

A. If you intend to attend the Christening, it would be somewhat rude not to bring anything. It doesn't have to be expensive - personalized gifts, the ones made with love, are often appreciated even more.

If you have artistic abilities and/or are good at DIY, you can try to make a gift, be it a beautiful frame or baby chair, or anything else.

If, however, you prefer to buy something, there are a lot of things you could get in the $10-$15 range.
Here are a couple of ideas:

1. Baby's First Year Photo Frame - available at most baby department stores or online
2. Ordinary photo frame or album - available at most baby department stores or online
3. Personalized Cutlery Set - available online and in stores
4. Personalized Keepsake Box - available at most baby department stores or online
5. Personalized Egg Cup and Spoon - available at most baby department stores or online (there are, of course, very expensive ones, however you can definitely get one in your range as well).
6. Personalized Fairy Books - available online
7. Cuddly toys - available everywhere (just make sure the toys have no sharp edges or anything that can cause allergies)
8. Baby cloths or bibs
9. Christening Candle (ordinary or personalized) - available everywhere (personalized ones may be easier to find online)
10. Personalized Piggy Bank

And for a bit of original thinking:
1. Name A Rose - available online and in baby department stores
2. Name a star - available online
3. Never Forget Gift (can be Never Forget Elephants or other toys, or just the traditional "baby book")

Use your imagination - gifts don't have to be expensive to be appreciated!

Hope this helped. :)
